Day 83.5: Beautiful boy

Today I was blessed to spend all day with a beautiful little boy name John Paul. He is a doll. He wasn't too sure of me when I met him yesterday, but seemed to think I was okay after a few short minutes. After an hour, if you asked him "Where's Blaire?" he would squeal with delight and point to me. My mom is his great aunt, so I *think* that makes him my cousin or something. I fell completely in love with him. He is so soft spoken and mild mannered. We went to the indoor play area at Chick-fil-a and had a ball. When older kids would come really close, he's get between my legs and look up. I'd ask "do you want me to come with you?" and he'd just nod his little head. I ended up sitting by the slide as he went up and down, up and down. Everytime he'd come up, he'd laugh and giggle when he saw me. We then took him to the library and read....he was so sweet, twirling his hair. Then he took a nap and the grown-ups watched Dr. Phil (which, btw was crazy). Then we played with blocks and chased cats around the house. When he was napping, I changed my clothes and let my hair down from a ponytail...he didn't recognize me! When he played with his ball, he had perfect aim He'd yell "oh boy!" and throw it right to you.

His giggle is the cutest thing I've heard. He is so full of life and joy. He was adopted from Guatemala. One of the cool things is that he recognizes Spanish when it is spoken. If he hears anyone talking in Spanish, he'll tilt his head and listen really close....then, sometimes, he'll laugh...and it's when the person speaking Spanish laughs! It's almost like he understands it or something. His parents said that one of their priests in Georgia speaks Spanish to him and John Paul will laugh and laugh and sometimes nod his head. He doesn't talk very much...instead, he's very thoughtful. It's like he weighs all his options before he makes a move.

Babies are so full of wonder and delight. I think the reason they're so happy is because they still have a direct line to God....like He's whispering in their ear and telling them jokes. I love that little boy and can't wait to see him again.
